Apple Files Another Patent Complaint Against HTC

Apart from Samsung, Apple has been making enemies with HTC since last year when the former filed a complaint to the International Trade Commission over Android patent infringements. The case has gone quiet, but it has since become news again when Apple filed another complaint to ITC against the Taiwanese company last July 8, this time seeking to block imports of HTC’s “personal electronic devices.” The nature of the new complaint is not clearly elaborated on ITC’s website.
Bloomberg subtly hinted that the new complaint could be Apple’s vengeance against HTC after it bought S3 Graphics Co. for $300 million. The video-game graphics chips won a ruling at the ITC against the Cupertino, California-based Apple.
HTC’s Chief Financial Officer Winston Yung could not immediately comment about Apple’s latest suit, saying that the they have not seen the details of the complaint. ITC will decide on Apple’s earlier case against HTC on August 5. Meanwhile, HTC has also filed a patent complaint against Apple at the ITC, which will be decided upon on September 16.
